Why the Olympic Peninsula is the Perfect Place to Elope
I’m not just going to show you the stunning Olympic Peninsula, let me tell you why it’s so perfect! Not only does this area boast some of the most breathtaking scenery in the country, but it’s also not a typical tourist destination giving you privacy as well. It's a bit off the beaten path so you can be sure that you won't have to worry about crowds of people getting in the way of your special moment
Unlike other parts of the country, the Olympic Peninsula enjoys mild temperatures and beautiful weather almost year-round. This means you can plan your elopement at any time of year and know that the weather will be picture-perfect!
Whether you're looking for a beach wedding or a mountain-top ceremony, no matter where you choose to say “I do”, your photos will be nothing short of stunning with these views.
Planning your Olympic Peninsula Elopement
Before packing up your best dress for your Olympic Peninsula elopement, there are a few things to consider. With these tips, you'll be able to create an unforgettable experience that is truly magical!!
The Olympic Peninsula has four seasons, each with its own beauty. In my experience, the best time for an elopement is from late spring to early fall. The weather is mild and the scenery is at its peak!
There are a variety of locations to choose from and some of the most popular locations to elope include Ruby Beach, Rialto Beach, Hurricane Ridge, and Lake Crescent. You can also opt for a more secluded location. I love the Hoh Rainforest, which offers a tranquil and serene atmosphere.
Make sure you hire a professional photographer or videographer to capture your special day who is familiar with the area! Many photographers specialize in elopements but can flop if they are going to the Olympic Peninsula for the first time. My personal fave is to capture the day in Super8 film, which adds such a unique and vintage touch to your wedding memories!
The (probably) most important step…PERMITS! Look into the requirements since they can vary depending on the location you choose.
TIP: if you plan to elope in Olympic National Park, you'll need an National Park Pass, while some areas require a Discover Pass or a Northwest Forest Pass. You may also need a photography permit or a tribal land permit, depending on the location!
Celebrating Your Elopement on the Peninsula
Yes, the Olympic Peninsula in Washington is a great place to celebrate your love, but there’s so much more! With its romantic and adventurous activities, you'll have a memorable and unique experience that will last a lifetime.
You can take a hike to the hot springs, walk hand in hand on the beach, or enjoy a picnic for two. You can also enjoy the sunset over the Pacific Ocean. If you’re looking for a little more adventure, you can explore the trails on a mountain bike, rent kayaks, explore the coastline, hit the waves, and go surfing. In the winter, skiing and snowboarding are fantastic activities in the Olympic Mountains! The activities you can choose from on your elopement day are endless.
If you're looking for a romantic dining experience, check out a previous couple of mine! Trevor + Nicola had a unique dining experience in a bell tent at a campsite! You can also enjoy a romantic dinner at one of the many restaurants in the area.
Also, you can check out the wide range of accommodation options after your elopement. You can rent a cozy cabin on Airbnb (LINK) or choose from the many camping options available. If camping gives you some hesitation, check out Hipcamp for a unique glamping experience. With a variety of tents and cabins available for rent!
No matter what your preferences are, the Olympic Peninsula has something to offer for every couple looking to celebrate their love!
Overall, you can’t go wrong with eloping on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington!
With its gorgeous scenery and fun activities, the area will provide the perfect setting to say “I do”. With just a bit of planning and the right photographer, your elopement can be one that you and your partner will never forget!
